Alright, folks, let me tell you about my latest project – messing around with a Toyota pickup to make it a dually. I’ve always loved those big, beefy trucks with the double wheels in the back, and I figured, why not try to make one myself? I had this old Toyota pickup sitting around, and it seemed like the perfect candidate for a little DIY action.

First things first, I needed to get my hands on some parts. I spent a good chunk of time searching around for some dually fenders. I also needed to find the right wheels and tires, and let me tell you, those things ain’t cheap!
Getting Started
- I started by taking off the old bed of the truck. It was a bit of a pain, but with some help from a buddy and a couple of pry bars, we got it off eventually.
- Next up, I had to figure out how to extend the rear axle. Now, this was a bit tricky. I ended up welding some extra steel to make it wider.
The Tricky Part
The hardest part, by far, was getting those dually fenders to fit just right. I’m not gonna lie, there was a lot of cutting, welding, and grinding involved. It took a few tries, but I finally got them to look decent. Once the fenders were on, it was time to mount the wheels and tires. I had to use some spacers to get the wheels to stick out far enough, but once I got them on, the truck started to look like a real dually.
Finishing Touches
After all the major work was done, it was just a matter of putting on the finishing touches. I gave the whole truck a fresh coat of paint, added some mud flaps, and installed some new taillights. And there you have it, my very own Toyota dually pickup. It was a ton of work, but seeing the finished product made it all worth it. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine, and I’m pretty darn proud of it. If you’re thinking about doing something like this yourself, I say go for it! Just be prepared for a lot of work and a few headaches along the way. But trust me, the feeling you get when you finally see your creation come to life is unbeatable.
It is a whole lot of fun, and that’s what makes it cool. I’ll be showing everyone who will see it.
