Alright, folks, let’s talk about cars. Specifically, let’s find a ride that’s kind of like the old Honda Element. You know, that boxy, practical, kinda quirky SUV that Honda stopped making a while back? I loved my Element, and when it finally gave up the ghost after a solid 250,000 miles, I needed to find something similar. So, I did what any reasonable person would do – I hit the internet and started digging.

First, I looked at what Honda’s doing now. They’ve got the HR-V, which is their smallest and cheapest SUV, sitting below the CR-V, Passport, and Pilot. It’s not really like the Element, though. More of a standard small SUV vibe. Not exactly what I was looking for.
So, I started branching out. I found a blog post listing 16 cars that are supposed to be similar to the Element. That seemed like a good starting point. The first one that caught my eye was the Ford Bronco Sport. It’s got that boxy look that I missed from my Element. I went down to the local Ford dealer and took one for a test drive. It was pretty nice, I gotta say. Definitely a contender.
Then there was the Nissan Cube. Another boxy one, but honestly, it was a bit too out there for me. I like a little quirkiness, but the Cube was a bit much, even for my taste.
Here’s what I checked out:
- Ford Bronco Sport: Boxy, decent engine, pretty good all around.
- Nissan Cube: Too quirky for me, but definitely similar in shape.
- Subaru Forester: This one surprised me. It’s boxy, has all-wheel drive, and a strong engine. Plus, it’s pretty affordable. Definitely reminded me of the Element in terms of practicality and space.
I also checked out a bunch of other cars, but those were the main ones that gave me that Element vibe. There were also BMW X3 in the internet but too luxury for me, it’s not boxy enough and I wanted something I wouldn’t be afraid to scratch up a little. After all, one of the things I loved about the Element was that it was rugged and I didn’t have to baby it.
So, after a lot of looking, driving, and comparing, I ended up getting a Subaru Forester. It’s not exactly the same as my old Element, but it’s close. It’s got that boxy shape, plenty of room inside, and it feels solid. Plus, it’s got all-wheel drive, which is great for the kind of driving I do. I miss my Element, but the Forester’s doing a pretty good job of filling the void.
If you’re in the same boat, missing your Element and looking for something similar, I’d definitely recommend checking out the Forester. The Bronco Sport is a solid choice, too. Just stay away from the Cube unless you really, really like that super quirky look. Happy car hunting!
