Okay, so I’ve been wanting to try this whole “SUV tent” thing for a while. You know, the kind that attaches to the back of your vehicle? It seemed like a cool way to camp, and honestly, a bit more comfortable than sleeping on the ground. So, I finally took the plunge and got one.

First things first, I unpacked the whole thing. It was a bit of a mess of fabric and poles, and I’m not gonna lie, I was a little intimidated. I’m not the most handy person, you see.
Getting Started
I spread everything out on the grass, trying to make sense of it all. There were these long, flexible poles, a bunch of stakes, and the tent itself, which was this big, kinda shapeless blob of nylon.
- Figured out the poles: The instructions (thank goodness for those!) showed how to connect the poles together. They basically just slid into each other, creating these long, curved supports.
- Attached the tent to the SUV:This part was actually easier than I * tent had these straps and buckles that went around the back of my SUV, fitting over the open hatchback.I opened the back of my SUV and start fasten all the buckles.
Setting Up
The main part of the tent, then draped over these poles, creating the actual tent structure.I secured everything with the stakes, hammering them into the ground around the * wasn’t the prettiest setup, I’ll admit, but it was functional!
Next, I moved my sleeping bag, pillows, and a few other essentials into the tent. It was surprisingly roomy! Definitely enough space for me, and maybe even a couple of other people if we squeezed in.I put my camp chairs and small table to the * looks great!
The best part? I could access the back of my SUV from inside the tent. That meant I could easily grab things from my car without having to go outside. Super convenient!
All in all, I’m pretty happy with my first attempt at using a tent on the back of suv. It took a little bit of effort to set up, but it was totally worth it. Now I can camp out in style (or at least, in slightly-more-comfortable-than-usual style)!I spent a wonderful weekend at the park.
