Okay, here is my sharing about how I installed a snow plow on my SUV.

So, it snows a lot where I live, and I was getting tired of shoveling my driveway every morning. I thought, “Why not get a snow plow for my SUV?” It seemed like a good idea at the time. I have a Ford F-150, and as far as I know, the F-150 is the king of plow trucks. So I started looking into it, reading some buyer’s guides online and checking out reviews.
I went online and found some snow plows. I wanted something not too expensive but still good quality. I read a lot of reviews from other people who bought plows. I also watched some videos to see how they worked.
After some research, I found this one plow called the SNOWSPORT 180 Utility Plow. It seemed perfect because it fits on most SUVs and trucks, and it works with a 2-inch rear receiver, which I have on my Ford. The description said it’s made of aluminum, so it won’t rust easily. Sounded good to me.
I also learned about something called a “Snow Plow Prep Package.” Apparently, it includes some special springs and a better alternator, which are useful for plowing. My F-150 didn’t have this package, but I figured I could manage without it. I mean, the car does come with a powerful engine and strong chassis, you know?
I ordered the SNOWSPORT plow online. It arrived a few days later in a big box. I was excited to install it. First, I had to assemble some parts. It wasn’t too hard, just followed the instructions. Then, I attached it to the rear receiver of my SUV. It fit perfectly, just like the description said.
- First Try: I waited for the next snowfall to test it out. It snowed a few inches, and I was ready. I started the engine, lowered the plow, and started driving. It worked! The plow pushed the snow out of the way easily.
- Learning Curve: It took some practice to get used to maneuvering with the plow. I had to be careful not to hit anything and to make sure I was pushing the snow to the right place.
- Success: After a few tries, I got the hang of it. I was able to clear my driveway in no time. It was so much easier than shoveling! I think I have become a good plow driver.
I’ve been using the snow plow for a while now, and it’s been great. It saves me so much time and effort in the winter. I’m really glad I decided to get it.
Some things I noticed:
- The plow is pretty heavy, so it affects the handling of the SUV a bit.
- I need to be careful when driving on the road with the plow attached, especially when it’s not in use.
- It’s important to maintain the plow, like checking the bolts and making sure everything is tight.
Overall, I’m really happy with my SUV snow plow. It’s made my life a lot easier during the snowy months. If you live in a snowy area and have an SUV, I definitely recommend looking into getting one. I’m glad I made the right choice!
