Well, there was this real bad thing that happened early Saturday in Somerset. They said it was around 1:14 in the morning, real late when most folks are asleep. Two people lost their lives in a motorcycle crash, and one of ’em was a young off-duty police officer from Seekonk. She was only 28 years old, real young if you ask me. Can’t imagine what her family is going through right now.
Now, this crash happened near one of them highway roundabouts, where the roads go in circles. Lots of folks get confused there, I reckon. Anyway, it was real bad, and they say the motorcycle was involved in some kind of accident, though the exact cause ain’t been said yet. Maybe it was the road, maybe something else, but that motorcycle crash cost two lives, and folks in the area are talking about it a lot. It’s just so tragic, losing folks like that, especially when they’re so young.
The news said that the officer was identified as a patrolwoman from the Seekonk Police Department. Imagine that, a young woman dedicating her life to protect folks, and then this happens. Life is just so unpredictable sometimes. One day you’re out there serving the community, the next day, something awful like this happens. Makes you think about how fragile everything really is.
The other person who died, well, they haven’t said much about them yet. But two lives gone in one crash, that’s something hard to wrap your head around. People in Somerset and Seekonk are mourning now. It’s a small community, you know, so when something like this happens, it hits everybody hard. The police department even posted something on Facebook, I heard, to let folks know what happened and share their sadness. Social media is how folks get their news nowadays, and you can bet that post got shared around a lot.
Crashes like this one, they don’t just happen out of nowhere. It could be the road, could be the weather, or just something went wrong with the bike. I ain’t no expert on motorcycles, but I’ve heard they can be tricky. You gotta be real careful, especially at night. There ain’t much traffic that time of night, but that don’t mean the roads are safe. Anything can happen.
It’s just sad all around. The Seekonk community and the police department, they’re hurting real bad from this. Losing a young officer like that, someone who was just starting out, is a blow nobody wants to deal with. And the family, my heart goes out to them. But, in the end, nothing’s gonna bring those two folks back, and that’s the hardest part of all this.
