Okay, here’s my story about installing running boards on my pickup truck.

So, I got this truck, right? A real beauty. But getting in and out was a bit of a pain, especially for my kids. I figured it was time to get some running boards. I did a little looking around, you know, just to see what was out there. Turns out, there are tons of options! Different styles, different materials, the whole nine yards. I wanted something that looked good but was also gonna be super practical.
I finally settled on a pair that seemed like a good fit. They were tough, had a nice finish, and I thought they’d really add to the look of my truck. Ordering was easy-peasy, done in like five minutes.
A few days later, a big box showed up at my door. Time to get to work! I’m no mechanic, but I’m pretty handy, so I figured I could handle it. I started by unpacking everything, making sure all the parts were there. Then I grabbed my tools and got ready to dive in. It is better to read the installation instruction before you start.
The first step was to locate the mounting points under my truck. Then it was a matter of lining up the brackets and bolting them on. It sounds easy, but let me tell you, crawling around under a truck is no picnic! I had to tighten some bolts in some pretty awkward positions. It’s a good thing I have a little ratchet. Then using the tools to attach the running boards to the brackets. They were kinda heavy, so I had to be careful not to drop them on my head or somethings.
- First, I found the mounting points.
- Second, I attached the brackets.
- Finally, I mounted the running boards.
After a couple of hours of work, the running boards were on. I stood back and took a look. They looked awesome! Not only did they make it way easier to get in and out of the truck, but they also gave it a more rugged look. I was pretty proud of myself, to be honest.
The Result
Now, my kids can climb in and out without any trouble, and I don’t have to worry about them slipping. Plus, I think my truck looks even better than before. It was definitely worth the effort. I can say that installing running boards is a pretty doable DIY project. It just takes a little time, some basic tools, and a bit of elbow grease. And if I can do it, anyone can! You just gotta be willing to get your hands a little dirty.
