Today, I tried out the Range Rover 3-row SUV, and let me tell you, it was quite an experience. I’ve been driving a pretty standard sedan for years, so stepping into this beast felt like entering a different world.

First off, I checked out some reviews online to see what people were saying. They mentioned that this thing starts at around $90k, which is way out of my usual price range. But hey, a guy can dream, right? The reviews were talking about how it ranks among other luxury SUVs, mentioning data points like acceleration, comfort, and fuel efficiency. I just wanted to see if it felt as good as it looked.
Getting Started
I headed over to the dealership. The sheer size of the Range Rover was the first thing that hit me. It’s massive! I opened the door and climbed in. It took a bit to get used to the height. Once I settled into the driver’s seat, I started fiddling with the settings. There are so many buttons and screens. I mean, it is kind of overwhelming at first. The seats were super comfy, though, like sitting on a plush couch.
Test Drive
I started the engine, and wow, it sounded powerful. They say it comes with a hefty price tag because of its powerful engine and design. I guess that’s true. I pulled out of the lot and onto the road. Driving it felt surprisingly smooth for such a big vehicle. I did notice it tended to jiggle a bit over rough patches at low speeds, but overall, it was a comfortable ride. I took it on the highway, and it handled really well. It felt solid and stable, even at higher speeds.
Interior and Features
Inside, it’s packed with all sorts of tech. There’s a huge infotainment screen, which some reviews said can be finicky, but I didn’t have any issues during my short test. The long wheelbase models even offer a third row, making it a 7-seater, which is pretty cool if you have a big family or often drive around a bunch of people. The cargo space is also huge. I can imagine fitting all sorts of stuff back there, from groceries to camping gear.
Final Thoughts
I spent a good chunk of the day just driving around, getting a feel for it. By the end, I was starting to understand the appeal. It’s not just a car. It’s like a statement. But I also started thinking about the practical side of things. Reviews mentioned that some of the electronics could be expensive to repair, especially as the car ages. That’s something to keep in mind. And of course, the price. With models going up to nearly $220,000, it’s definitely an investment.
At the end of the day, I returned the Range Rover to the dealership, a bit sad to go back to my old sedan. It was a fun experience, and it definitely broadened my view of what a car can be. I get it. I get why people who own this kind of car do so. While I won’t be buying one anytime soon, it was great to see what’s out there. Maybe one day, who knows?
In the evening, I read some more articles. I learned that popular Land Rover SUVs also include the Defender and Range Rover Sport. But for a cheaper 3-row SUV option, the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan S is out there for around $30k. Much more in my price range! But still, the Range Rover has its own charm. It’s a mix of luxury, power, and a bit of off-road capability. It’s a cool car, no doubt.
So, that was my day with the Range Rover 3-row SUV. It was an eye-opener, for sure. If you ever get the chance, I’d say give it a try. Just be prepared for the sticker shock!
