Well, let me tell ya somethin’ about them pickup truck bed doors, or whatever ya call ’em. Them things, the tailgate, yeah, that’s it. They ain’t all the same, you know? You got all sorts of sizes and ways they open and close.

Pickup Truck Bed Door: How to Choose the Right One?

Now, I seen a bunch of trucks in my day, comin’ and goin’ down our road. Some of them fellas got big trucks, some got small ones. And the back part, where you put all yer stuff, that’s the bed, right? And that door on the back, well, it’s different on every truck, it seems.

Some of them doors just go straight down, you know? Like a regular door. You unlatch it and boom, down it goes. That’s the regular kind, I guess. Easy enough to use, even for an old lady like me. But then ya got them fancy ones, the ones that do all sorts of things.

  • Some open like a barn door, swingin’ out to the sides.
  • Some go down and have a step built in, for climbin’ up easier.
  • And some, I heard, they even open in different ways, up, down, sideways, you name it!

Why do they make ’em so complicated? I dunno. But I guess it’s handy for some folks. If you’re carryin’ big stuff, that barn door style might be good. And if you’re always climbin’ in and out, that step would sure save your knees.

Now, about the size of them beds… that’s another thing altogether. Some are so short, you can barely fit a sack of potatoes in ’em. Others are so long, you could lay down and take a nap! I ain’t kiddin’! I seen one fella haul a whole mattress in the back of his truck. Said it was a “queen size” or somethin’. Fancy folks and their fancy beds.

You got yer small trucks, then yer big ones, then the extra-big ones. It’s like they got a truck for everythin’ these days. And each one’s got a different size bed and a different kind of door. It’s enough to make yer head spin!

I remember when a truck was just a truck. You hauled yer stuff, you drove it around, that was it. Now they got all these gadgets and gizmos. Makes ya wonder what they’ll come up with next.

But back to that door. It’s important, ya know? It keeps all yer stuff from fallin’ out. And you gotta make sure it’s latched good and tight, or you’ll be losin’ things all over the road. I seen that happen before, too. Tools, boxes, even a whole load of firewood, just gone! All because someone didn’t close that door right.

And the price? Don’t even get me started on the price! These trucks, they cost more than my house did, back in the day! And the bigger the truck, the fancier the door, the more they charge ya. It’s highway robbery, I tell ya!

So, if you’re thinkin’ about gettin’ a truck, think about what you need it for. Don’t just go buyin’ the biggest, fanciest one you can find. Think about the bed, think about the door, and think about how much you’re willin’ to spend. And most importantly, make sure you can close that darn door properly! Otherwise, you’ll be in a world of hurt, and you will be losing all yer stuff and then you got to get back to pick it up, wasting your gas money, wasting your time, wasting everything.

And that’s all I gotta say about pickup truck bed doors. They ain’t rocket science, but they’re important. So pay attention, folks, and don’t go losin’ yer stuff!
