So, I’ve got this pickup truck, right? And the bed, it’s just a big empty space. Stuff slides all over the place back there. It’s a pain in the neck! Groceries end up smashed, tools get banged up. I finally got fed up with it, and figured, there’s gotta be a better way.
I started looking around, you know, just to see what my options were. I saw these things called bed liners. Some are like a big plastic tub you drop in, they call them “drop-in” liners, customized for my Ford F-150. Others you spray on, which sounded messy, but I guess it works. But I wasn’t really looking to cover the whole bed. I just needed something to keep things from sliding around.
Then I found these “bed dividers.” That sounded more like it. There are all sorts of them, some are like nets, some are metal bars, even some fancy ones that roll up. One brand I saw was called “Cargo Manager.” Made by Roll-N-Lock, apparently. You can order it online and pick it up in store, which is cool.
- First, I went down to the local auto parts store. I figured they’d have something.
- Next, I talked to a guy there, showed him my truck, and he pointed me to a few different dividers.
- Then, I ended up grabbing one that’s basically a big, sturdy piece of plastic. It’s got these adjustable brackets that fit into the slots that are already in my truck bed. It seemed pretty solid and easy enough to install.
Getting it in there wasn’t too bad. I just had to:
- First, slide the brackets into the slots.
- Next, adjust the divider to where I wanted it.
- Then, tighten everything down.
It took like, maybe 20 minutes? And now, wow, what a difference! I can put my groceries on one side, tools on the other, and nothing moves around. It’s awesome! And it is pretty sturdy, I could put a mattress on the driver’s side and fasten it diagonally from one stake pocket to another. If I need to haul something big, I can just loosen it up and slide it out of the way. Or take it out completely. It’s pretty handy.
Honestly, I don’t know why I waited so long to get one of these things. If you’ve got a truck and you’re tired of stuff sliding around, you should definitely check out a bed divider. It’s a game changer.

You can buy them at most auto parts stores, or you can find them online too, if you know what you’re looking for. They’re not that expensive either, I mean, compared to the cost of replacing all your smashed-up stuff! Seriously, do yourself a favor and pick one up.
