So, I’ve been needing a new workhorse for a while now, something sturdy and reliable, and I’ve always had a soft spot for those classic Ford Courier pickups. I figured, why not try to find a used one? They’re known for being tough little trucks.

I started my hunt online, just browsing through various car-selling websites. I wasn’t really sure what to expect in terms of price or condition. Initially, I found a few listings for Ford Courier trucks, some as cheap as $2! I figured those were probably just the starting prices, though.
- I spent a good chunk of time just scrolling through listings, comparing prices, and looking at photos.
- Most of the trucks I saw were older models, which was what I was looking for.
- I noticed that the prices varied a lot depending on the year, mileage, and overall condition.
I came across one site that had about 20 listings for used Ford Courier pickups. They had photos, mileage, and other details. One that caught my eye was a 1979 model with 77,100 miles on it, a manual transmission, and also priced at $2. Seemed like a steal, but I knew I had to dig deeper.
I did a bit more research on these trucks, you know, just to be safe. Learned that some common problems with older Couriers could be related to the engine, transmission, brakes, or the electrical system. Also found out that engine issues could pop up if you don’t keep an eye on the coolant levels. Good to know!
Then I stumbled upon an online marketplace, and they had tons of listings for Ford Courier trucks. They were boasting about the “lowest prices” and “fast, free shipping.” Sounded a bit too good to be true, but I checked it out anyway.
The Search Continues
I learned that Ford stopped making the Courier pickup in the 2000s and replaced it with the Ranger. And the Courier van was replaced by something called the Ford Transit Connect in 2002. I also found out that they stopped making Couriers in 1960, then brought the name back in ’72 for a small pickup they made with Mazda. They sold these in the U.S., Canada, and Australia.
I’m still on the hunt for the perfect Courier. I’m taking my time, making sure I find one that’s in decent shape and won’t cost me an arm and a leg to maintain. It’s been an interesting journey so far, learning about the history of these trucks and seeing what’s out there. Hopefully, I’ll find the right one soon!
Well, that’s where I am right now. It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster, but I’m hopeful I’ll find a good Ford Courier soon. It’s all about patience and doing your homework, right?
