Well, you see, back in the day, when people talked about sports cars, Mitsubishi was one of the names that popped up. Now, we ain’t talkin’ about them crossovers or those big SUVs they’re makin’ now. No, no, I’m takin’ ya back to the real good times when they made cars that could go fast and turn heads. You remember the Mitsubishi Starion, don’t ya? That little turbocharged beast that had folks talkin’ for miles. I reckon it’s still got a place in some people’s hearts, even if it’s a bit of a distant memory.

The Mitsubishi Starion, well, it was a two-door sports car that had a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, rear-wheel drive, and could take you from 0 to 60 like it was nothin’. This car was made between 1982 and 1989, and let me tell ya, it wasn’t just any ol’ car. It had some real get-up-and-go, just like the good ol’ days. Folks over in North America knew it as the Conquest, sold under them Chrysler, Dodge, and Plymouth brands. That car could run with the best of ’em!
Back in them days, Mitsubishi didn’t just make your everyday run-of-the-mill car, no sir. They was pushin’ the envelope and makin’ cars like the Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4. Now that was a car! A real piece of work, if you ask me. It was somethin’ else back in the ’90s, with that all-wheel drive and turbocharged engine. Heck, it had all kinds of fancy tech in it, even had that all-wheel steering. People were drivin’ around in that car, feelin’ like they was in a whole new world. It was one of the most revolutionary cars of its time, and I don’t think you could find many cars that matched it in the same league.
But ya know, time changes, and so does what people want. After the Lancer EVO X came to an end in 2015, Mitsubishi just sorta started makin’ those crossovers and SUVs. Ain’t nobody callin’ them a sports car, that’s for sure. Nowadays, it’s all about family-friendly rides, slow and steady, if ya ask me. But back in the day, Mitsubishi was known for pushin’ the limits, and that was something you don’t forget easily.
What happened to all those fast, sporty cars they used to make? Well, they say the world moves on, but I can’t help but think there’s somethin’ special about them old cars. Maybe it’s just me, but a Mitsubishi Starion still gets my heart racin’ when I think about it. You couldn’t just look at it and say it was another car on the road. It was a symbol of speed, power, and a little bit of rebelliousness. Now, it’s mostly a memory, but what a memory it is!
But don’t be thinkin’ all hope is lost. People still remember those old cars, and there’s always folks out there who will restore ‘em and bring ‘em back to life. You can still find some Mitsubishi sports cars out there if you know where to look. They might be a little dusty, a little worn out, but they sure ain’t lost. And if you ever get the chance to take one of them old beauties for a spin, I’d say go for it. Ain’t nothin’ like feelin’ the wind rushin’ through your hair in a car that used to be at the top of the world.
- Starion – Turbocharged power from the ’80s.
- 3000GT VR-4 – All-wheel drive and turbo fun in the ’90s.
- Lancer EVO X – The last of the true sports cars from Mitsubishi.
So, in the end, maybe Mitsubishi ain’t makin’ them fast cars no more, but don’t forget ’em. They were once kings of the road, and that’s somethin’ you can’t just erase from memory.
