Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get a new SUV, and I really had my eye on the Lexus ones. But here’s the thing – I also need to be able to tow my little fishing boat. So, I started digging into the towing capacity of the different Lexus SUVs, you know, just to see which one could handle the job. It was a bit of a rabbit hole, I’ll admit!

My Little Research Project
First, I grabbed my laptop and started poking around online. I figured the Lexus website would be a good place to start, but honestly, it was a little overwhelming with all the models and specs.
I jotted down some notes, focusing on the models that seemed like they might work for me – you know, not too huge, but still powerful enough. I was looking at the NX, RX, and GX especially.
- NX: Seemed a bit small, maybe not enough power.
- RX: This one looked promising! Good size, and I’d heard good things.
- GX: Bigger, more of a “serious” SUV, probably more than I needed.
Then I started comparing the numbers. It got a little confusing with all the different trims and packages. One thing I quickly realized is that the hybrid models sometimes have different towing capacities than the gas-only versions. Who knew?
I spent a good couple of hours just reading through forums and reviews. Lots of people had the same questions I did, and it was helpful to see what other folks were saying about their experiences towing with different Lexus SUVs.
I made a little spreadsheet (yes, I’m that person) to keep track of the different models, their towing capacities, and any other notes I found. I wanted to have all the info in one place so I could easily compare.
After all that digging, I started to get a clearer *’s look like RX model can handle my requirement. But It’s still a bit of a puzzle. So I think I decided to hit up a dealership and talk to someone who actually knows their stuff.
I learned a lot, and it definitely helped me narrow down my choices! Hopefully soon I will get my ideal car!
