Hey everyone, it’s your boy back again with another one of my little adventures. So, I heard about this thing called the Atlanta Sports and Entertainment Career Fair. Sounded like a big deal, and you know I’m always looking to see what’s up in the job world, especially in sports cause that’s my jam.

First thing I did was look up when and where this was going down. Saw that it was happening at the College Football Hall of Fame. Cool spot, I’ve passed by it a few times but never actually went in. This was on March 19th, a Tuesday. Another one was on April 1st, hosted by the Georgia Swarm, and then I saw there was an AMB Sports & Entertainment Career Expo in May at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Sheesh, Atlanta really goes all out with these sports career fairs.
Marked my calendar for the one in May cause it seemed like the biggest one. I mean, it’s at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium! Plus, it said it was the 16th annual one, so they must be doing something right. I figured that’s where I’d get the most bang for my buck, networking-wise.
Got dressed in my best “I’m professional but also cool” outfit. Gotta make a good impression, you know? Hopped in my car and drove down to the stadium. Parking was a bit of a mess, but hey, it’s a big event. I was so excited that I forgot to eat my lunch. Walked inside, and man, it was packed. There were so many people, all dressed up and looking eager. I spotted booths from the Hawks, Falcons, and Braves. That’s the big leagues right there.
I started making my rounds, talking to anyone who would give me the time of day. I handed out my resume like it was candy. Most of the people were cool, giving me the rundown on what they do and what they’re looking for. Some of them were talking about entry-level stuff and internships, which is perfect for someone just starting out. I made sure to write that down.
- Talked to a guy from the Hawks about a marketing gig. Sounded interesting.
- Chatted with a lady from the Falcons about their community outreach programs. That’s something I’m really passionate about.
- Met a recruiter from the Braves who was looking for some help in their ticket sales department. I have done sales before, so I made sure to emphasize that.
I spent a good few hours there, soaking it all in. Collected a bunch of business cards and made some notes on my phone about who to follow up with. Overall, it was a pretty solid experience. I didn’t get a job on the spot or anything, but I definitely made some good connections. Plus, I got a better sense of what’s out there in the Atlanta sports scene. And let me tell you, it’s a lot!
So, that’s my story about hitting up the Atlanta Sports and Entertainment Career Fair. If you’re in Atlanta and into sports, you should definitely check it out next year. Who knows, maybe you’ll land your dream job. Or at least get some free swag. I am so tired, but at least I have written something, I am going to sleep now.
