Okay, so, I got this Honda Civic, right? It’s a sweet ride, but then I started thinking about car insurance. I heard that sports cars usually cost more to insure. And I was like, “Wait, is my Civic considered a sports car?”

First, I started looking up what insurance companies usually think about Civics. I saw that the Honda Civic is this super popular compact car. That’s good news, right?
Then I did a little more digging. I found out that sports cars usually have these higher insurance prices compared to, like, a family sedan. Makes sense. The more expensive the car, usually the more you pay for insurance.
I found some people online saying that Civics aren’t really considered sports cars. Something about them not having enough power and not looking sporty enough. I guess that makes sense. My Civic isn’t exactly a race car.
Next, I decided to get some actual insurance quotes. There are these websites where you can compare quotes from different companies. I used one called Quotezone, and another called Tiger. You just fill out this form with your info, and boom, you get a bunch of quotes.
It turns out you can save a bunch of money just by comparing quotes. Quotezone said I could save like 523. And Tiger said they work with over 110 providers. That’s a lot!
My Civic’s Specs
Now, my Civic isn’t the standard one. It’s got some pep. The one I’m driving has this 1.5-liter turbocharged engine. It’s got 200 horsepower, which is pretty good. It gets up to speed quickly, whether I’m starting from a stop or passing someone on the highway.
Civic Through the Years
I also found out that Civics used to be considered subcompact cars, but since 2000, they’ve been called compact cars. So, they’ve grown up a bit.
The Type R
Then there’s the Civic Type R. It is a series of hot hatchback and sports sedan models based on the Civic. This thing is a beast. It’s like the Civic’s crazy, super-fast cousin. I saw some stuff online calling it an “insane sports car”. It is a sports car.
So, after all this, I figured out that my regular Civic probably isn’t going to be considered a sports car for insurance. That’s a relief! But, it’s always a good idea to compare quotes from different companies, because you can save some serious cash that way. It was a fun little adventure figuring all this out. Plus, now I know way more about Civics than I ever thought I would!
- Compared quotes with online tools.
- Learned about different Civic models.
- Saved some money on car insurance.
That’s my story, and I hope it helps someone else out there who’s wondering the same thing about their Civic.
