Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to mess with my motorcycle for a while now, specifically the throttle. It’s been feeling a bit stiff lately, and honestly, I just wanted a cleaner look. So, I decided to install a motorcycle throttle lock. Let me tell you, it wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be, but it was definitely worth it.

First, I gathered all the stuff I needed. I made sure I had all the parts of the throttle lock, plus some basic tools. I also checked the inside diameter of my handlebars to make sure the throttle lock would actually fit. You wouldn’t believe how many different sizes there are!
Then, I figured out how much cable I needed. This was kind of tricky because I had to measure my handlebars and decide how long I wanted them to be. I didn’t want to cut them too short and mess everything up. I measured both sides a couple of times just to be safe.
Next, I cut the handlebars to the length I wanted. This was a bit nerve-wracking, but I took it slow and steady. Once that was done, I started fitting the internal throttle housing onto the handlebars. This took a while because I had to deal with the weld seam inside the bars. It was a pain, but I eventually got it in there.
After that, I had to make a hole for the set screw. I measured where the hole needed to be and drilled it carefully. I wanted to make sure the set screw would be in the right place so the throttle would work properly.
Finally, I installed the accelerator cable onto the throttle housing. It was a bit fiddly, but I managed to get it on there. I made sure everything was tightened up and secure.
Once everything was put together, I took my bike out for a test ride. And let me tell you, it felt great! The throttle was smooth, and the handlebars looked way cleaner without all those cables hanging out. It was a bit of a hassle, but I’m really happy with how it turned out. Plus, I learned a lot along the way.
So yeah, that’s my story of installing a motorcycle throttle lock. It was a fun little project, and I’m glad I did it. If you’re thinking about doing something similar, just make sure you have all the right parts and tools, and take your time. It’s definitely doable, even if you’re not a professional mechanic.
