Alright, so the other day I had to move my fridge, and let me tell you, it was quite the experience. I decided to use my pickup truck because, well, it’s what I’ve got. Here’s how it went down.

First off, I emptied the fridge. I mean everything out, even the shelves and drawers. I gave it a good cleaning too, since it was going to be off for a while. This took a couple of days ’cause I didn’t want to rush it. Once it was all clean and dry, I unplugged it. It was essential to be dry and no water inside.
Next, I measured the fridge and the truck bed to make sure it would fit. Good thing it did, but just barely! Then, I got a dolly. I’m not a strong guy, so there’s no way I was lifting that thing on my own. I carefully tilted the fridge and slid the dolly underneath.
Now, getting it onto the truck was the tricky part. Luckily, I had a loading ramp. So, I slowly pushed the fridge up the ramp and into the truck bed. I made sure to keep it upright the whole time. I’d heard it’s better for the fridge that way.
Once it was in, I secured it with ratchet straps. I tied those straps down real tight to make sure the fridge wouldn’t move an inch during the drive. It was pretty stable, but I still drove extra carefully.
After I got to the new place, I used the ramp again to get the fridge off the truck. Same process, just in reverse. I wheeled it into the house, positioned it where I wanted, and that was it.
- Empty and clean the fridge a few days before.
- Measure the fridge and truck to make sure it fits.
- Use a dolly and a loading ramp. It makes things so much easier.
- Keep the fridge upright as much as possible.
- Secure it really well with ratchet straps in the truck.
It was a bit of a hassle, but I managed to transport my fridge in my pickup truck without any major issues. Just took some planning and a bit of elbow grease!
