So, I’ve been messing around with this idea of building an AKR sports car, you know, just tinkering in my garage. It all started when I saw this beat-up old chassis at the junkyard. I thought, “Hey, why not give this thing a new life?” So, I hauled it back home, and that’s where the fun began.

First things first, I had to figure out what kind of engine I wanted. I spent hours reading forums and watching videos, just trying to soak up all the info I could. I finally settled on a powerful engine. Seemed like a good balance of power and, well, not blowing my whole budget in one go.

Tackling the engine was a whole other beast. I’m no mechanic, but I managed to get it installed with the help of a buddy who knows his way around cars. We spent a good weekend on it, lots of trial and error, and a few choice words when things got tough.

Then came the transmission. I wanted something that could handle the power but also give me smooth shifts.
Making the car stable
After that, I dove into the suspension. This was a tricky part because I wanted the car to handle like a dream. I ended up going for an advanced suspension system – a bit pricey, but totally worth it for that sweet, sweet handling. And the steering, oh man, I spent days fine-tuning it to get that perfect response I was after.
It’s been a wild ride, to say the least. Lots of late nights, greasy hands, and moments where I thought I was in over my head. But seeing it all come together, piece by piece, has been incredibly rewarding. The AKR sports car isn’t just a project; it’s become a real passion. And honestly, building something with your own two hands, it’s a feeling like no other. And yeah, with all the competition out there these days, I think better adaptability of this car is really necessary. So there’s still a lot to do, but I’m excited to see where this journey takes me.
