Okay, so last weekend I got this wild idea to go camping, but like, not the usual boring tent-on-the-ground situation. I wanted something a bit different. I have an SUV, and I thought, “What if my tent could, like, connect to my car?” Sounds cool, right? Turns out, it’s a thing! They call them SUV tents.

So, I started looking around and these tents are pretty neat. They’re made to attach right to the back of your SUV. This means you can use the trunk space as part of your tent. Extra room, easy access to your stuff, and you’re not sleeping directly on the ground. I was sold!
I found one that looked pretty easy to set up. It was a pop-up, which meant I wouldn’t have to mess around with poles and stuff. Most of these SUV tents have these elastic cords and hooks, or some kind of straps. You use these to attach it to the back or sides of your SUV. The instructions were pretty straightforward, and I just made sure to really secure it well. I didn’t want any gaps where bugs or rain could get in.
Setting It Up
- First thing, I cleared out the back of my SUV. I wanted a nice, clean space to work with.
- Then, I laid out the tent behind my SUV. This tent was a pop-up kind, so it was pretty much ready to go right out of the bag.
- Next, I unfolded the tent, and it just popped into shape. Seriously, it took like seconds.
- After that, it was all about attaching it to the SUV. I used the elastic cords and hooks that came with the tent. I connected them to the roof rack, the back bumper, and around the sides.
- Finally, I made sure everything was tight and secure. I gave it a good shake to make sure it was stable. I didn’t want it going anywhere if the wind picked up.
It was actually easier than I thought it would be. Once it was all set up, it was awesome! I had so much space. I could stand up inside, which was a huge plus. And it was super convenient having access to my car right there. I could grab things from the trunk without even going outside.
I spent the whole weekend like this, and it was a blast. It felt like I had a mini-house attached to my car. I cooked, relaxed, and slept comfortably. It was definitely an upgrade from regular tent camping. If you’re thinking about trying something different, I totally recommend checking out an SUV tent. It’s a game-changer!
