Okay, so I’ve been driving my pickup for a while now, and I’ve always wanted a tonneau cover. You know, those covers that go over the truck bed? But the new ones, they’re pretty pricey. So, I thought, “Why not try getting a used one?” That’s how this whole thing started.

First, I tried to figure out what I could spend. It looked like most used covers go for around $150 to $550. That’s way better than buying a new one! Of course, it depends on the brand and how beat up it is. Then I began to learn about the different kinds of covers. There are soft ones, hard ones, ones that roll up, ones that fold – it’s a lot to take in!
I started looking around online. I checked out some local classifieds, you know, the usual spots. I also hit up some websites. No luck. It was tough to find one that would fit my truck’s make and model, and year.
The Search Begins
- Searched online marketplaces for used tonneau covers.
- Checked local listings and classified ads for potential deals.
- Looked into auto parts stores that specialize in used accessories.
Then, I remembered there are some auto parts places that sell used stuff. I called around, and asked about used tonneau covers. It was kind of hit or miss. Most places didn’t have anything in stock. Some guys told me that those used covers are hard to get.
But, I didn’t give up. I decided to expand my search. I started looking in other cities and was ready to drive to pick up one. Finally, I found a place that had a few used covers, and one of them was a match for my truck! It was a hard folding cover, looked to be in pretty good shape, and the price was right around $300, a good deal I thought.
I drove out there, took a good look at it, and decided to buy it. Installed it on my truck, and it’s been great! It was definitely worth the effort to find a used one. Saved me a bunch of money, and it works just as well as a new one would.
So, if you’re thinking about getting a tonneau cover, don’t be afraid to look for a used one. It might take a little more time and effort, but it can really be worth it in the end.
