I gotta tell you about these extended cab pickup trucks. These things are somethin’ else. My grandson, he’s always talkin’ about ’em. Says they’re the best thing since sliced bread. I don’t know about all that, but they sure look handy.

They got that extra space behind the front seat, you see. Not a full back seat like them fancy cars, but enough room to throw some stuff in there. Or maybe a couple of small grandkids, if they’re well-behaved.
What’s so good about extended cab pickup trucks?
Well, they’re trucks, for one. Good for haulin’ things. My neighbor, he’s got one. Uses it to carry his tools and whatnot. Says it’s a lifesaver. And he sure does love his Ford F-150. Says it’s the best truck he’s ever owned.
And these extended cab ones, they’re not as big as them other trucks. Them ones with the full back seat. Those are huge! This one’s just right, he says. Easy to park, too. That’s important, you know, ‘specially when you get a little older.
- More Space: You can put groceries, tools, or even your dog back there.
- Not Too Big: Easier to drive around than those giant trucks.
- Still a Truck: Good for haulin’ stuff, like firewood or that old couch you need to get rid of.
Now, I seen ’em in different colors, too. Red, blue, silver… even that shiny black. My grandson, he likes the black ones. Says they look “cool.” I don’t know about “cool,” but they sure do shine. Reminds me of my best shoes I used to wear on sundays. That Ford Maverick is a popular one too. My grandson showed me one of them the other day. Said it was affordable.
Lots of brands make extended cab pickup trucks
The other day, I was lookin’ at a magazine, and I saw all sorts of these extended cab pickup trucks. There’s that Chevy Silverado, the Toyota Tacoma… lots of ’em. Seems like everyone’s makin’ ’em these days. And that Honda Ridgeline, that’s one my grandson keeps talkin’ about. It’s a nice-looking truck I reckon.
They even got them fancy ones now. With leather seats and all them buttons. I don’t know what half them buttons do, but they sure look impressive. My neighbor, he just got a new one. A Ram 1500. It’s somethin’ else. Got a big screen in the middle there. Like a little TV!
He says you can get ’em used, too. For a lot cheaper. He looked at a bunch of used trucks for sale before he got his new one. That’s probably what I’d do. These new ones are expensive! My neighbor paid a lot for his new truck. I don’t know the exact price, but it was a lot of money. I’ve seen some used trucks going for any where between $1,700 and $424,000.
He said if you’re looking for a used pickup truck make sure you check it good. Don’t want no lemons, you know. He said best to take it to a mechanic and have them look it over. Don’t want to buy someone else’s problems.
Everyone seems to have an extended cab pickup truck these days
You see these extended cab pickup trucks everywhere now. Down at the grocery store, at the church, even at the school. That Chevy Colorado and the GMC Canyon, those are popular with the younger folks. Them kids like to drive ’em around with their loud music. Reminds me of when I was young, except we didn’t have these fancy trucks back then. Just old beaters.
My other neighbor, she just got one, too. A little smaller one. A Ford Ranger, I think it’s called. She uses it to go to the garden center. Says it’s perfect for haulin’ her plants and flowers. She even got a little cover for the back, to keep her things dry when it rains. Clever, ain’t it?
I remember when trucks were just for work. Farmers and construction workers, mostly. Now everyone’s got one. Even folks who don’t need ’em. Just like ’em, I guess. They are kinda nice, I gotta admit. Even the new 2024 model trucks are something else.
These extended cab ones, they’re a good compromise. Not too big, not too small. Just right. Like Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Except with trucks. And you can get a good deal on them around October through December. That’s when the dealerships are trying to get rid of their old stock.
So, if you’re thinkin’ about gettin’ one of these extended cab pickup trucks, I say go for it. Just do your research first. And don’t pay too much. Unless you got money to burn, like my neighbor with his fancy new truck. Then you can get one of them 2025 Ram 1500 models. They’re supposed to be real nice. I seen a picture of one in a magazine. It was shiny. Real shiny.
