Okay, so I’ve been meaning to do something about my Drifter’s seat for a while now. It’s a cool bike, a Kawasaki Drifter 1500, but that stock seat? Man, it’s rough on longer rides. I needed an upgrade, like, seriously.

First thing I did was hit up some online forums, asked around what other Drifter riders were doing. Some folks were talking about adding a padded cover. Sounds easy enough, right? But I wanted something more, something that really screams “comfort”.
Then I started looking at aftermarket seats. I found this one online store called Biker’s Outfitter, and there were a few options, but nothing specific for the Drifter. They had this nice one called the Slyfox, but it’s for Harleys. Great, just my luck.
I even stumbled upon some used seats on some used marketplace – a Corbin seat, looked kinda okay in the pictures, supposedly made for Drifters. The guy selling it said it was vinyl, black, and originally for the 1500 model. There was also mention of a tan version for the 800, but I wasn’t interested in that.
Made a Big Decision
But here’s the kicker – I decided to go all out. I mean, if you’re gonna do it, do it right, yeah? Memory foam and leather kept popping up as the best materials for long rides, and that’s what I wanted. So, I thought, why not get a custom seat made?
I found this company, didn’t catch the name right now, but they make custom motorcycle seats. I called them up, told them what I was looking for. The guy on the phone was super helpful, walked me through all the options, materials, stitching, all that jazz. It was a bit pricey, but hey, comfort is king, right?
I sent them my old seat as a base, had a few more chats about the design, and a few weeks later, bam! My new custom seat arrived. It was a beauty – black leather, memory foam padding, just like I wanted.
Putting it on the bike was easy, it is custom made for it after all. And let me tell you, the first ride with that new seat was a game-changer. It was so much more comfortable, like sitting on a cloud compared to the old one.
So, yeah, that’s my Drifter seat story. It was a bit of a journey, but totally worth it. If you’re thinking about upgrading your motorcycle seat, especially if you have a Drifter, I definitely recommend going the custom route. Your butt will thank you!
