Okay, so, I’ve been meaning to get a gate for my SUV for my dog, Buddy. He’s a good boy, but he gets a little too excited sometimes and tries to jump to the front seat. Not the safest thing when I’m driving, you know? So, I finally decided it was time to do something about it.

First thing I did was hop online and look up “dog SUV gates.” Man, there are a ton of options out there! I started reading reviews and comparing different models. Some were made of this flimsy-looking mesh, while others were these heavy-duty metal things. I knew I needed something sturdy because Buddy is a big guy.
I also made sure to measure the inside of my SUV. I grabbed a tape measure and jotted down the width and height of the cargo area. I realized I wanted an adjustable one to make it easier. Didn’t want to end up with a gate that didn’t fit, right?
After a couple of hours of browsing, I narrowed it down to a few that seemed promising. One was called “Pawple” something, and another was “COLETA”. I also saw one called “Vetoos”. They were all metal, adjustable, and had decent reviews. The important thing was that they all mentioned “easy installation.” I’m not the handiest person, so that was a big plus. And I definitely can confirm that the crate is the safest way to keep your dog in your car, but I didn’t choose it because I didn’t have enough space.
- Size: Measured my SUV’s cargo area.
- Material: Looked for sturdy metal gates.
- Installation: Prioritized easy installation.
- Adjustability: Needed something that could fit different widths.
Then I decided to go for the “COLETA Dog Car Barrier”. I just liked the name. The reviews were good, and it seemed like the best fit for my needs. A few days later, the gate arrived. It was pretty easy to put together, and I managed to install it in my SUV without too much trouble. I had to adjust the width a bit, but it fit snugly in the back.
Now, when Buddy and I go for rides, he stays safely in the back. No more surprise visits to the front seat! It’s been a few weeks, and the gate is holding up great. Definitely a good purchase. It makes our car rides much safer and more enjoyable. And Buddy seems to have gotten used to it. He just chills in the back now, watching the world go by. Problem solved!
