Man, you wouldn’t believe the project I tackled last weekend. It was all about getting a new windshield on my old Club Car DS. Yeah, the golf cart I’ve had since, like, forever. It’s a classic Club Car DS model, and I think it’s from somewhere between 1982 and 2000, not totally sure. Anyway, the old windshield was, let’s just say, past its prime.

So, I started by looking around for a replacement. I figured all golf cart windshields were pretty much the same, but boy, was I wrong. Turns out, there are tons of options! I dove into the world of golf cart windshields, and let me tell you, it’s more complicated than you’d think.
First, I had to decide on the material. Some are made of polycarbonate, others are acrylic. They even have these fancy tinted ones that are supposed to protect you from UV rays. And don’t even get me started on foldable windshields! I learned that acrylic can crack, so that was out. I found out that DS stands for Dom Saporito, some designer back in the day. Who knew?
The Search
- Researched different windshield types online.
- Compared prices and materials.
- Read reviews from other Club Car owners.
After a ton of research, I finally settled on a clear, impact-resistant, foldable windshield. It seemed like the best option for my needs. Plus, it’s made in America, which is a nice bonus. I ordered it and waited, which was the hardest part. I just wanted to get it on my cart and go for a spin!
When the windshield finally arrived, I cleared out the garage and got to work. I gathered my tools. Luckily, I didn’t need anything too fancy. The installation process was pretty straightforward, but you need to do some stuff, like some holes here, a few bolts there. It was a bit fiddly in parts, but I managed to get it done in a couple of hours. And let me tell you, it made such a difference! The new windshield is crystal clear, and it feels so much more sturdy than the old one.
Installation Day
- Gathered tools.
- Read the instructions (multiple times).
- Removed the old windshield.
- Installed the new windshield.
I took the cart out for a test drive, and it was awesome. No more squinting into the sun or getting blasted by the wind. It’s like having a whole new cart! I’m really happy with how it turned out. It just goes to show that even a small upgrade can make a big difference. So, if you’re thinking about replacing your Club Car’s windshield, don’t wait! It’s totally worth it. Trust me, I learned that the hard way, but you don’t have to. You can just go for it and enjoy the ride!
And that’s my story. A little bit of research, a little bit of elbow grease, and a whole lot of satisfaction. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go enjoy a ride with my awesome new windshield. Hope you do that soon, no matter what you love.
