Today, I’m gonna talk about my recent little project – looking for an SUV with a sliding door. You know, regular car doors are fine, but sometimes a sliding door is just way more convenient, especially if you have kids or often find yourself in tight parking spots.

So, I started my search online. I spent hours reading articles and watching videos. It wasn’t easy, to be honest. There aren’t that many SUVs with sliding doors out there. Most vehicles with sliding doors are minivans, which isn’t exactly what I was looking for.
I narrowed down my options to a few models. One of them was the Honda Odyssey, which apparently has an SUV version. That was a surprise. It’s marketed as family-friendly and perfect for “busy families on the go.” Sounds about right for my situation.
Another one I stumbled upon was the Toyota Century SUV. Now, this one’s a bit fancy. The article I read mentioned it has some kind of special hinge design for the rear doors, so they open discreetly. I guess that’s cool if you’re into that sort of thing.
- Volkswagen ID. Buzz
- Ford Tourneo Custom
- Kia Carnival
These also caught my eye. So many choices, but they didn’t feel like what I am looking for.
Then I decided to dig a little deeper into what other people were saying. I found some forums where people were discussing common problems with sliding doors. Stuff like the doors not staying closed or not opening properly. That’s definitely something to keep in mind.
I also checked out some car brands’ websites. Mazda’s website talked about “style” and “advanced technology”. I mean it’s nice, but I am looking for a sliding door. And there’s also a brand boasted about their “luxury SUV range designed for the demands of family life,” with options from “compact crossovers to sophisticated 7-seaters.” Sounds interesting, but again, where are the sliding doors?
I even looked into ground clearance. One brand claimed their SUV had 8.7 inches of ground clearance and “spacious, inviting interior” with up to 153.2 cubic feet of space. That’s a lot of space, but still no sliding door.
After all this research, I realized finding the perfect SUV with a sliding door is tougher than I thought. I got some interesting info, but the search continues. I might have to test drive a few of these and see how they feel in real life. The journey is definitely not over yet!
And I will keep updating about my SUV search progress. Stay tuned!
