Okay, so I saw this crossword clue today – “British sports car” – and I thought, “I got this!” I mean, I’m pretty good with crosswords, especially the ones in the Wall Street Journal. They can be tricky, but that’s part of the fun, right?

First thing I did was look at the number of letters. I counted them out. That can really narrow things down. You know, is it going to be something short like “MG,” or something longer?
Then, I checked the crossing letters. I always try to fill in some of the easier clues around the one I’m stuck on. Sometimes, getting just one or two of those crossing letters can make the answer just pop into your head. It’s like a little puzzle-solving magic trick.
- I looked for any obvious fill-in-the-blank clues nearby. Those are usually gimmes.
- I thought about common crossword answers, like repeated words or phrases.
- I checked to see the clue for any hint.
In this case, I had a few letters already filled in from other clues, so I used the letters I know to fill in the blank.
After working through the surrounding clues and using the process of elimination. Finally, I Got it!
It is a good game!
