Okay, here’s my blog post about setting up a pop-up SUV tent:

Alright, folks, so I finally got my hands on one of those pop-up SUV tents I’ve been eyeing. Figured I’d document the whole shebang, from unboxing to chilling inside. Let’s get to it!
The Unboxing
First things first, the box arrived. Pretty standard stuff. Got the tent out, along with a bag of stakes and some instructions that I totally read carefully (wink, wink).
Setting Up – The “Pop-Up” Part
Now, this is where it’s supposed to be super easy. The “pop-up” part, right? I unfolded the tent on the ground, and yeah, it kinda sprung into shape. It wasn’t like a magic trick, more like wrangling a slightly oversized umbrella. I had to give it a little encouragement here and there, but it eventually resembled a tent-ish shape.
SUV Connection – Figuring It Out
This was the trickiest part for me. Connecting the tent to my SUV. The tent has this sleeve thing that’s supposed to go over the back of the vehicle. I fiddled around with it for a good while, trying to get it snug. It’s not rocket science, but it definitely took some adjusting to get it to sit right.
I am not very sure how to set the sleeve to the car, I tried many times.
Staking It Down – Don’t Want to Fly Away!
Once I had the tent মোটামুটি (that’s Bengali for “more or less”) attached, I grabbed the stakes. Pretty self-explanatory. Hammered those suckers into the ground around the edges of the tent. You know, basic tent stuff. Don’t want the whole thing blowing away in a gust of wind.
The Inside – My Mobile Palace
Finally, I zipped open the door and crawled inside. It’s surprisingly roomy! Definitely enough space to throw down an air mattress and some gear. There are some mesh windows for ventilation, which is nice. I can picture myself kicking back with a cold one after a long day of… well, whatever I’d be doing out in the wilderness.
Final Touches
I add some pillows and blankets in it, and also some toys for my kid. I think he will love this tent.
- The fabric of the tent looks nice.
- It has enough space to play.
The Verdict
So, overall, I’m pretty stoked about this pop-up SUV tent. It’s not instant setup, but it’s definitely manageable, even for a klutz like me. I can see this being a great addition to my camping/road trip setup. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go practice setting it up a few more times before I actually take it out into the wild. Wish me luck!
