Alright, so I wanted to share my experience with installing a visor on my pickup truck. I’ve been driving this bad boy for a few years now, and the sun has been a real pain, especially during those early morning and late afternoon drives. So, I finally decided it was time to get a visor.

First thing I did was hop online and look around. I saw a bunch of different types – some were pretty basic, just a strip of tinted material, while others looked more heavy-duty, like they were meant for off-roading. I ended up going for something in the middle, a visor that looked sturdy but wasn’t too over the top.
When the package arrived, I was pretty eager to get it on my truck. The instructions were okay, I guess, but I ended up watching a couple of videos online just to make sure I was doing it right. There are many other people installing visors just like me, and I found their video instructions more helpful than the written instructions.
- Clean the Windshield: I started by giving the top of my windshield a good cleaning. I wanted to make sure there wasn’t any dirt or grime that would mess with the adhesive.
- Position the Visor: Next, I held the visor up to the windshield to get an idea of where it should go. I marked the position lightly with a pencil.
- Attach the Brackets: My visor came with these metal brackets that you have to stick to the windshield. I carefully peeled off the backing and pressed them firmly into place. It had to align to the previous marks that I made.
- Mount the Visor: Once the brackets were secure, I mounted the visor onto them. This part was a little tricky, I had to make sure everything was lined up perfectly.
- Tighten the Screws: Finally, I tightened the screws that held the visor to the brackets. I made sure not to over-tighten them, though, I didn’t want to crack the windshield.
And that was it! It took me about an hour to get it all done, and honestly, it wasn’t too bad. I did mess up a little with the alignment, but I was able to fix it without any major issues.
The Difference It Made
Driving with the visor has been a game-changer. It really cuts down on the glare, and I don’t have to squint as much when the sun is low in the sky. Plus, I think it makes my truck look a bit tougher, which is always a bonus.
Overall, I’m super happy with my new visor. It was a pretty easy DIY project, and it’s made a big difference in my driving experience. If you’re thinking about getting one for your truck, I say go for it!
