Okay, here’s my post about getting a blow-up mattress for my SUV.
So, I finally did it! I got myself one of those blow-up mattresses for the back of my SUV. I’ve been wanting to do more car camping, and sleeping on the ground in a tent just ain’t cutting it anymore, you know? My back can’t take it! I’m not getting any younger, man.
First things first, I started looking around online. And let me tell you, there are a TON of options. It’s kinda crazy how many different kinds there are. I needed to figure out what was actually important to me. Was it the price? Was it how comfy it was? Did I need some fancy brand?
So I made myself a little list:
- Comfort: This was top of the list. I need to actually sleep well, otherwise, what’s the point? I don’t want to wake up feeling like I was in a fight.
- Price: Didn’t want to break the bank, but I also didn’t want some cheap thing that was gonna pop the first time I used it. You know, I wanted something that would last.
- Size: Had to fit in the back of my SUV without being too much of a pain to set up. I have a pretty standard SUV, nothing too fancy. I measured the back just to be sure.
- Durability: Like I said, I need this thing to last a while. I don’t want to replace it every few months. That’s just annoying and a waste of money.
I spent a good few days just reading reviews and comparing different mattresses. It was kind of a pain, to be honest. Finally, I found one that seemed to check all the boxes. It had decent reviews, people said it was comfy, and it wasn’t crazy expensive. It seemed like it was durable enough, too.
I pulled the trigger and ordered it. It arrived a few days later. The box was bigger than I expected. I’m not gonna lie. When I opened it up, the mattress seemed pretty big, too. I was a little worried it wouldn’t fit, even though I measured.
So here’s the big moment. I went out to my SUV, cleared everything out of the back, and laid the mattress out. I was hoping this thing would fit. I started blowing it up. It took a little while, but it wasn’t too bad. You definitely need a pump for this thing. I was sweating a little by the end, to be honest, but it was worth it.
And guess what? It fit! Perfectly! I was so stoked. I laid down on it right there in the driveway. It was surprisingly comfortable! Way better than sleeping on the ground, that’s for sure. I’m actually looking forward to my next camping trip now.
My Final Thoughts
Getting this blow-up mattress was a total game-changer. I’m so glad I finally did it. I’ve already tried a short camp with my friends last weekend, and this is a big success. I can’t wait to get out there and use it again. If you’re thinking about car camping, I definitely recommend getting one. Just make sure you do your research and find one that’s right for you!
