Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this idea of 1990s SUVs, right? It all started when I was watching some old movies and kept seeing these boxy, classic SUVs. I got this itch to dig in and see what made them tick, and maybe even get my hands on one.
The Deep Dive
First thing I did was hit up the internet, of course. I spent hours just scrolling through forums, old reviews, and whatever I could find about these beasts. I was looking at everything – Jeeps, Ford Explorers, Chevy Blazers, Toyota 4Runners, you name it. I wanted to know which ones were reliable, which ones were gas guzzlers, and which ones were just plain cool.
I created this messy spreadsheet(I’m not good at it LOL) to keep track of all the specs – engine sizes, fuel economy (or lack thereof!), common problems, and even things like parts availability. It was a lot of info to process, but it helped me narrow down my options. I made a big table in the speadsheet, listing down model, engine, problems, gas consume, and wrote down notes about how I like its shape and color, all that kind of things.
Getting My Hands Dirty
After all that research, it was time to see these things in person. I started checking out local used car listings and even went to a few junkyards(wear masks!). It was a real eye-opener. Some of these SUVs were in surprisingly good shape, while others… well, let’s just say they’d seen better days.
- I remember checking out this one Ford Explorer – the paint was faded, the interior was ripped, but the engine sounded surprisingly strong.
- Then there was this Jeep Cherokee that looked almost brand new, but the owner was asking way too much. I am not gonna be ripped off.
It was a real mix of good and bad, but it gave me a much better feel for what I was dealing with. I Took a lots pictures, making notes on my phone at the same time. I have to show these to my wife, she is always good at bargaining.
Figuring Out What’s Next
So, where am I now? Honestly, I’m still figuring it out. I’ve got a much better understanding of these 1990s SUVs, but I haven’t pulled the trigger on buying one yet. I do not even have a garage. There’re still some factors I have to take into consideration, like where am I going to park it, how much is insurance gonna be… a lot of questions. But the journey so far has been a blast, and I’m definitely hooked on these old-school SUVs. I think, for now I will keep doing reaserch, and save up some money, I am really thinking about getting one of these old SUVs.
