Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to get one of those cargo liners for the back of my SUV for a while now. You know, to keep things clean and tidy back there. So, I finally decided to get one, and I wanted to share my experience with you guys.

First, I looked around online at different types. There are a bunch of them out there, it’s kind of overwhelming. Some are just flat mats, and others are more like trays with raised edges to contain spills and stuff. I checked out BDK, Motor Trend, and 4Knines, those seemed to be some of the popular ones, and found that some are designed for specific models, and others are the “trim-to-fit” kind, those seemed better for me.
I have a dog, a big, shedder and drool a lot, so I definitely needed something that could handle pet hair and the occasional muddy paws. Plus, I haul groceries, sports gear, and sometimes even some stuff. So, durability was also important for me. I read that these liners are good for protecting against spills, scratches, and just general dirt. That sounded good to me, who wants a messy car, right?
After looking at the options, I ended up going with a heavy-duty rubber one from BDK. It was a trim-to-fit, which I thought was perfect because then I could customize it. They called it “all-weather,” which I liked, and it said “waterproof” and “non-slip.” The price wasn’t too bad either, around 30 bucks. They were talking about free shipping, so that was a plus.
When it arrived, it was rolled up in a box. It was a bit stiff at first and didn’t want to lay flat. But the instructions said that’s normal. I just put it in the back of my SUV and placed some heavy books on the corners. After about 15 minutes, just like they said, it flattened out.
Trimming it to fit was pretty easy. I just used a pair of heavy-duty scissors and followed the lines that were already on the mat. Took a bit of time, but I managed to get a pretty good fit. I even made sure it fit around the back seats nicely so I can still fold them down if I need to.
Cleaning Up
I’ve had it for a couple of weeks now, and it’s been great. It catches all the dog hair, and when it gets dirty, I just take a wet cloth and wipe it down. They said for really tough dirt, I can use some regular household cleaner, but I haven’t had to do that yet.
Overall, I’m really happy with my purchase. It’s made a big difference in keeping my SUV clean, especially with the dog. If you’re thinking about getting a cargo liner, I definitely recommend it. Just make sure you get one that fits your needs and your vehicle.
