Okay, here’s my experience checking out the 2024 GMC Terrain SLT AWD SUV, written in a casual, personal blog style:
So, I’ve been thinking about getting a new ride, and the 2024 GMC Terrain SLT AWD kept popping up. I figured it was time to actually see one in person and give it a good once-over.
First thing I did was hit up my local GMC dealership. They had a couple of Terrains on the lot, including an SLT in the color I wanted – a nice, dark metallic gray. Looked pretty sharp, I gotta say. First impressions were good! It’s not huge, but it definitely has that solid, “I can handle some rough roads” kind of vibe.
Getting Inside
I hopped inside, and the first thing that hit me was the space. Plenty of headroom, and the seats felt pretty comfy. I played around with the seat adjustments – all power, of course – and got it dialed in just right. The dashboard layout was clean, not too many buttons overwhelming me. I am easily overstimulated by too much, so I appreciated that. I like that everything seemed easy to reach and figure out.
The infotainment screen was a decent size, and I messed with the controls a bit. Seemed pretty responsive, nothing laggy. I didn’t spend a ton of time on it, but it looked like it had all the usual stuff – navigation, music, phone connection, the works.
Checking Under the Hood (Sort Of)
I’m no mechanic, so I didn’t go crazy poking around the engine. But I did pop the hood just to take a peek. Everything looked tidy and well-organized. I know that doesn’t really tell me much, but hey, at least it wasn’t a mess of wires and hoses!
Taking it for a Spin
The sales guy, a friendly dude named Mark, tossed me the keys, and we went for a little test drive. I took it on some side streets, hit the highway for a bit, and even found a slightly bumpy road to see how it handled. Honestly, it was a smooth ride. The all-wheel-drive felt solid, especially when I took a corner a little faster than I probably should have. The engine had enough power, it wasn’t going to win any races, but you know, enough pep for everyday driving.
The Little Things
- Sunroof: This one had a panoramic sunroof, which was pretty sweet. Really opened up the feel of the interior.
- Storage: I checked out the cargo area in the back. Seemed like plenty of room for groceries, luggage, or whatever gear I’d need to haul around.
- Back Seats: Folded the back seats down – super easy, just a couple of levers. That gave it a ton of extra space.
Overall Thoughts
After spending a good hour with the Terrain SLT, I came away pretty impressed. It’s not the flashiest SUV out there, but it felt practical, comfortable, and capable. It’s definitely on my shortlist of cars to consider. My next step is probably going to be comparing it to a couple of other SUVs in the same class, just to see how it stacks up. But so far, so good!
