Alright, so I’ve been thinking about how to carry my piece while riding my motorcycle. It’s been a head-scratcher, honestly. How do you keep your firearm safe and sound but also within reach if you need it? You can’t just stuff it in your pocket, right? That’s a recipe for disaster. So, I started looking into this whole “motorcycle pistol holster” thing.

First things first, I scoured the internet, reading up on what other bikers do. Forums, blogs, you name it. Found a bunch of articles talking about the “best” holsters, but honestly, a lot of it was just marketing fluff. I mean, who really knows what’s best until they try it, right?
I decided to narrow it down based on what seemed practical. I didn’t want anything too bulky that would get in the way of my riding. And it had to be secure – no way was I risking my gun falling out while I’m cruising down the highway. So, I picked out a few different types of holsters to try:
- A shoulder holster: Thought this might be good for easy access, but worried it might be uncomfortable under my jacket.
- A mounted holster: This one attaches to the bike itself. Seemed convenient, but I wasn’t sure how quickly I could get to it.
- An inside-the-waistband (IWB) holster: This is the kind you wear on your belt, tucked inside your pants. Figured it might be the most concealed option.
I ordered one of each online. Once they arrived, the real test began. I spent a few days trying each holster out. Rode around with them, practiced drawing my (unloaded) firearm, just to get a feel for it. Here’s what I found:
Shoulder Holster
Yeah, this one was a no-go. Like I suspected, it was just too bulky under my jacket. Felt like I was carrying a brick on my chest, and it restricted my movement.
Mounted Holster
This one was okay, but not great. It was easy enough to install on my bike, but like, drawing from it felt awkward. I had to reach down and across my body, which just didn’t feel natural or quick, especially in a high-stress situation.
IWB Holster
This was the winner, hands down. It was surprisingly comfortable, even on long rides. The gun stayed put, and I could get to it pretty easily if I needed to. Plus, it was completely hidden under my clothes, which I liked.
So, there you have it. After all that experimenting, I settled on a simple IWB holster. It’s not fancy, but it gets the job done. Keeps my firearm secure, accessible, and out of sight. If you’re a biker looking for a way to carry, I’d definitely recommend giving the IWB holster a try. It worked for me, and it might just work for you too.
