Okay, let’s talk about this project, the “Russian Pickup Truck.” It’s been quite a journey, let me tell you.

It all started with this old, beat-up truck I stumbled upon. It was a wreck, to be honest. But I saw potential, you know? I thought, “This thing could be something special.” So, I hauled it back to my garage and got to work.
First things first, I had to assess the damage. The body was rusted, the engine was shot, and the interior was, well, let’s just say it had seen better days. I stripped it down to the bare bones. Took out the seats, the dashboard, everything. It was a mess, but a necessary one.
- Ripped out the old engine – that was a beast in itself.
- Started working on the body – sanding, patching, you name it.
- Sourced parts from all over – junkyards, online, even made a few myself.
The bodywork took forever. I’m not a professional, so it was a lot of trial and error. I spent hours sanding, filling in holes with whatever I could find, and trying to get the panels straight. It was frustrating at times, but I kept at it. Slowly but surely, it started to take shape.
Then came the engine. I managed to find a decent replacement, not exactly a powerhouse, but it ran. Getting it in and hooked up was another story. Lots of greasy hands and colorful language, but I got it done.
The interior was the last piece of the puzzle. I decided to go for a simple, rugged look. Found some old leather seats at a junkyard, cleaned them up, and threw them in. Built a basic dashboard out of some scrap metal and wood. It’s not fancy, but it’s functional.
Finally, after months of work, it was done. It’s not perfect, mind you. It’s still a bit rough around the edges, but it’s mine. And it runs! I took it for a spin the other day, and it felt great. All that hard work paid off. This old Russian pickup truck, back from the dead and ready to roll.
It kinda reminds me of those classic American trucks, like the Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Though mine is definitely more… rustic. But hey, it’s got character, right? And that’s what counts in my book.
What is next?
I think I will try to find some old tires to replace these ones. Maybe next month.
