Okay, so, I’ve been wanting to haul some stuff around – you know, the usual: some gardening supplies, maybe some furniture, that kind of thing. But my little car just ain’t cut out for it. So, I thought, why not get a trailer? But not just any trailer, a pickup truck bed trailer! Yeah, I know, pretty cool, right?

So the first thing I did was start looking around online. I mean, where else do you start these days, right? I typed in “used pickup trucks” and “truck trailers” into the search bar and, boom, tons of stuff popped up. Different websites, local listings, you name it. I even used one of those used car search tools online where you can specifically look for pickups.
I spent a good few days just browsing. You wouldn’t believe how many options there are. Different sizes, different conditions, some with rust, some looking brand spanking new. It was a bit overwhelming, to be honest.
Finding the Right One
After a while, I narrowed it down to a few places that seemed to specialize in used trucks and trailers. I found this one place, Chris Hodge, I think it was called, that seemed to have a pretty good selection of used trucks. Another place had a huge collection of trailers, for all kinds of businesses, it seemed like. Construction, farming, even those refrigerated ones.
Then there were the local listings. I figured, why not see what people are selling nearby? It’d be easier to go check them out in person. And it’s kinda fun to see what’s out there.
Making the Decision
- Check the Condition: Made sure to really look at the pictures. Did it look rusty? Was the bed in good shape? Did the tires look worn out?
- Compare Prices: I didn’t want to get ripped off, so I made sure to compare prices between different sellers.
- Think About Size: What did I really need to haul? Did I need a huge trailer, or would a smaller one do the trick?
Finally, after a lot of looking and thinking, I found one! It wasn’t perfect, a little bit of rust here and there, but it was a good size, and the price was right. I contacted the seller, we chatted a bit, and I went to check it out.
It was just what I was looking for! I ended up buying it, and now I’ve got a sweet pickup truck bed trailer. I even found some of those ratchet straps on sale somewhere – gotta keep everything tied down secure, you know? Now, I just need something to use for covering the bed when I haul stuff around in the rain. I’m also going to give it a new paint to get rid of the rust and make it a little bit prettier. All in all, it wasn’t too bad of a process. Just took some time and a bit of looking around.
