Well now, let me tell ya somethin’ about them fuel tanks for pickup trucks. You know, them trucks, they drink gas like a thirsty cow on a hot summer day. And sometimes, what you got in that regular tank just ain’t enough, especially if you’re hauling stuff or goin’ on a long trip. That’s where these extra tanks come in handy, the ones they call auxiliary fuel tanks.

Under Bed Fuel Tanks: Pros and Cons for Pickup Truck Owners

I heard some folks talkin’ about puttin’ these tanks under the bed of the truck. Sounds like a smart idea to me. Keeps the bed free for all your junk, ya know? And it keeps things lookin’ tidy too. No need for that big ol’ tank sittin’ right there in the back, takin’ up space. These under bed tanks, they tuck away real nice and neat.

Now, from what I gather, there are different kinds of these tanks. Some are made of plastic and some are made of steel. Plastic ones, they say, are cheaper, but maybe not as tough. Steel ones, they’ll last ya longer, but cost a bit more. It’s like pickin’ between a cheap pair of shoes that’ll wear out quick and a good sturdy pair that’ll last ya for years. You gotta figure out what’s best for ya.

  • Plastic Tanks: Easier on the wallet, but maybe not as tough.
  • Steel Tanks: Cost more, but they last longer. Tough as an old boot, they say.

And then there’s the size of these tanks. Some hold just a little bit extra, and some hold a whole lot. It all depends on how much you need. If you’re just drivin’ around town, you might not need a big one. But if you’re haulin’ somethin’ heavy or goin’ on a long trip, well, then you’ll want somethin’ that can hold a good amount of fuel. Nothin’ worse than runnin’ out of gas in the middle of nowhere, let me tell ya.

I heard tell of a fella who didn’t have one of these extra tanks. He was always carryin’ around them fuel cans, smellin’ like gas all the time. Said he ran out of gas three times! Can you imagine? Three times! That’s just a pain in the neck, if you ask me. With one of these extra tanks, you don’t gotta worry about that no more.

They say these tanks gotta be put in just right, though. There are rules and regulations, ya know. Can’t just slap one on there and call it a day. Gotta make sure it’s safe and legal. Don’t want no leaks or nothin’. That could be dangerous, real dangerous.

Some of these tanks, they got pumps to move the fuel from the extra tank to the main tank. That way, you can just keep on drivin’ without havin’ to stop and fill up all the time. Sounds pretty convenient to me. And I heard some are made special so they don’t stick up too high, so they stay below the bedrails of your truck. That way, you can still put stuff in your truck bed without it hittin’ the tank. Clever, ain’t it?

And if you got one of them Ford trucks, like an F150 or one of them bigger ones, an F250 or F350, and it’s a diesel, well, you might really want to think about gettin’ one of these extra tanks. Them diesels, they can go a long way, but they also use up a lot of fuel when you’re workin’ ’em hard. Having extra fuel on hand is a good thing.

So, all in all, I reckon these under bed auxiliary fuel tanks are a pretty good idea. They give ya extra fuel, keep your truck bed clear, and save ya some headaches. Just make sure you get one that’s the right size and that it’s installed right. And if you do that, you’ll be sittin’ pretty, with plenty of fuel to get ya where you need to go.

Safety First: Always make sure these tanks are installed correctly by someone who knows what they’re doin’. Fuel is dangerous stuff, and you don’t wanna mess around with it.

Consider Your Needs: Think about how much extra fuel you really need before you buy a tank. No point in gettin’ a giant one if you don’t need it, and no point gettin’ a small one if it ain’t gonna do the job.

Shop Around: Don’t just buy the first tank you see. Look around, compare prices, and read reviews. You wanna get a good deal on a good tank.
