Well, let me tell ya ’bout this fancy car, the one they call the Aston Martin DB2/4 Drophead Coupe. Folks say it was in some movie, “The Birds” they call it, somethin’ about birds attackin’ people. Never seen it myself, too busy with chores, ya know? But this car, it sure is somethin’ else.

They say this car was made a long time ago, back in the 50s. Imagine that! Was a 1954 model, they say, and it was real special. Not just any ol’ car, mind you. It had this fancy top that goes down, a “drophead” they call it, makes it look all sleek and whatnot.
- Made between 1953-1955
- Fancy drophead top goes down
- Driven by some actress in a movie
This car, it weren’t just sittin’ around. Some lady in the movie, Melanie somethin’-or-other, she drove it all over the place. Bodega Bay, they say. Pretty place by the sea, I hear. She was drivin’ this fancy car, lookin’ all high and mighty, I reckon.
Now, this car, it weren’t cheap, even back then. And now, lordy, it costs a fortune! Only rich folks can afford somethin’ like that. They say it’s a “classic,” means it’s old but still worth somethin’. More than my whole farm, I betcha.
They say there weren’t many of these cars made. Real rare, like a hen’s tooth. And this one in the movie, it had a special story. Seems like it belonged to some big shot at a movie studio, and they let ’em use it for the film. Then it changed hands a few times, like a hot potato, I guess.
This Aston Martin DB2/4, it replaced another Aston Martin car, the DB2. Guess they always gotta be makin’ somethin’ new, somethin’ better. This one, it had four seats, so you could take the whole family for a ride, if you had a family that fit in a fancy car like that.
So, this car, the Aston Martin, it ain’t just a car, it’s a star, just like that actress lady. People still talk about it, still want it, even after all these years. It’s a piece of history, they say. Me, I’d rather have a good truck, somethin’ that can haul hay and feed, ya know? But that’s just me, I guess. Some folks like fancy things, and that’s alright too.
This car in the movie, they say it was a real looker. Shiny and sleek, just the kind of thing to turn heads. And in that movie, it sure got a lot of attention, even with all them birds flyin’ around and causin’ trouble. It’s funny how a car can be so famous, almost like a person. But I guess that’s what happens when you’re in a big movie, even if you ain’t got no lines to speak.
Some folks say there were two of these cars in the movie, but I don’t know about that. Sounds like a lot of fuss for just one movie. But those Hollywood folks, they do things different, I reckon. Spendin’ money like it grows on trees. Me, I gotta pinch every penny just to keep the farm goin’.
Anyways, that’s the story of this Aston Martin DB2/4 Drophead Coupe as best as I can tell it. Fancy car, famous movie, lots of money. More than I’ll ever see in my lifetime, that’s for sure. But it’s a good story, and it just goes to show ya, some things, they just last, even if they’re just metal and wheels.
