- I saw somethin’ about a price, too. Lordy, them numbers made my head spin! Started at somethin’ like fifty-two thousand dollars! That’s more than my old house was worth! And the fancy one, the one with all the bells and whistles, they said it was over seventy-six thousand! Who in their right mind would spend that much on a truck? Well, I guess rich folks got different ideas about money than us regular folk.
They’re callin’ it a “luxury truck.” Luxury, huh? I bet it’s got leather seats and a fancy radio. Maybe even one of them screens that shows you where you’re goin’. My old truck just had a bench seat and a radio that only played static half the time. But hey, it got the job done. Hauled hay, hauled chickens, hauled whatever I needed to haul.
Now, this Acura pickup, I don’t know if it’ll be haulin’ much hay. More likely it’ll be haulin’ golf clubs or fancy groceries from that fancy store in town. You know the one, where they charge you an arm and a leg for a loaf of bread? Yeah, that one.
I heard tell they’re makin’ an electric car too, the Acura ZDX. Electric, can you believe it? No gas at all! Just plugs into the wall like a toaster. My grandson, he’s all about that electric stuff. Says it’s the future. Me, I don’t know. I like the sound of a good engine rumblin’. But then again, I ain’t gettin’ any younger, maybe that quiet electric car would be easier on my old ears.

So, if you’re lookin’ for a fancy pickup truck, this Acura might be just the ticket. But if you’re like me, and you just need somethin’ to haul your stuff around, well, there’s plenty of other trucks out there that’ll do the job just fine. And they won’t cost you a fortune neither.
And another thing, all this talk about “redefining” what a truck can be? Hmph. A truck is a truck, plain and simple. It’s supposed to be tough and reliable, not some fancy show pony. But that’s just my opinion, I guess. Young folks these days, they got different ideas.
