Alright, let’s jaw about them Indian motorcycles, you know, the ones them fellers ride. I ain’t no expert, mind you, just an old woman with some time on her hands and a thing or two to say.
What in tarnation is an Indian Motorcycle?
Well, from what I gather, these Indian motorcycles, they ain’t new. They been around since way back when, like 1901 or somethin’. That’s a long time, longer than I’ve been breathin’, that’s for sure. They’re American-made, which is somethin’ to be proud of, I reckon. Some company called Polaris, they make ’em now. Heard they bought the place back in 2011. Before that, they had some troubles, stopped makin’ ’em for a while, then started up again in California.
- Folks say they used to make these bikes for the army, during that big war, World War somethin’-or-other. Called ’em Model 741s. Imagine that, young fellers ridin’ these things into battle.
- Now, they got all sorts of fancy models, but I wouldn’t know one from the other.
Where do folks talk about these here motorcycles?
Now, if you wanna know more, seems like there’s this thing called the “Indian Motorcycle Forum” online. It’s like a big town hall meetin’, but on the computer. Folks from all over jaw about their bikes. Been goin’ on since 2010, they say. Got a whole bunch of members, thousands of ’em, chattin’ away ’bout this and that.
They got posts, millions of ’em, talkin’ ’bout fixin’ things, showin’ off their shiny new parts, plannin’ rides, and just generally gabbing ’bout them Indians. Sounds like a lively bunch, always somethin’ goin’ on.
What kinda stuff do they talk about on that forum?
Well, I peeked in there a bit, and it’s a whole lotta things. They talk about problems they’re havin’, like a squeaky wheel or a engine that won’t start. They ask for advice, and other folks chime in with their two cents. “Try this,” they say, or “That happened to me once…” It’s like a neighborly get-together, but online.
They also show off their bikes, all polished and purty. Postin’ pictures and braggin’ ’bout how they fixed ’em up or painted ’em a new color. Some of them bikes are real lookers, I gotta say. All shiny chrome and fancy paint jobs.
And then there’s the ridin’. They plan big trips, group rides they call ’em, where a whole bunch of ’em get together and ride all over the place. Sounds like fun, if you’re into that sort of thing. They talk about where to go, what roads to take, and where to stop for a bite to eat. Reminds me of the old days, when folks used to go on picnics together.
Is this Indian Motorcycle thing for you?
Now, I ain’t sayin’ you gotta go out and buy yourself one of these here motorcycles. They ain’t cheap, from what I hear, and ridin’ ’em can be dangerous. But if you’re interested, that forum seems like a good place to start. You can learn a lot from them folks, and maybe even make some new friends.
Just remember, ridin’ a motorcycle ain’t like drivin’ a car. You gotta be careful out there. Wear your helmet, watch out for them other fellers on the road, and don’t go too fast. And for goodness sake, don’t be drinkin’ and ridin’. You don’t want to end up in a ditch somewhere.
But if you’re lookin’ for a bit of excitement, a bit of freedom, and a whole lotta camaraderie, then maybe an Indian motorcycle is just the thing for you. And if you ever need help or just wanna jaw about it, head on over to that forum. Them folks are always happy to talk.
Anyways, that’s about all I know about them Indian motorcycles. Like I said, just an old woman sharin’ what she’s picked up here and there. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I gotta go check on my biscuits.
